Workshop in Edmonton: What to expect when you are adopting

So you are adopting!

This is an exciting time in your life. Soon you will be welcoming your forever child into your lives. This four session art therapy workshop is designed to help you navigate this journey, share your  innermost heartfelt thoughts and feelings about your journey to adopt, and record the start of your and your child’s journey.

Week 1: Attachment: Your heart, your child’s home  - working on attachment from the start

Week 2: Honouring your child’s biological family and heritage: Your child’s story from the beginning

Week 3: It takes a village to raise a child: Celebrating your child and preparing family and friends for the arrival of your child

Week 4: Every child is unique:

Their story must be told and heard.

No artistic ability required!

By the end of the four sessions you will have completed four significant pieces for your child’s life journal.

Each night will include teaching and discussion, an art therapy activity and sharing, plus helpful handouts.

Dates:

Thursday, February 1, 8, 15, 22, 2018

Each two-hour session runs from 7 - 9 p.m. on consecutive Thursday evenings.

Location: to be determined, but somewhere in Oliver Area, Edmonton

Cost:

$20 per session per participant

($80 for the four weeks)

$150 / couple for four weeks

Payable by cash, cheque or e-transfer.
